After a period of 20 years, the CNF will end their co-operation at the end of 2011.
The CNF aimed at supporting projects for marginalised and vulnerable people by strengthening innovative community-based care and NGOs in 16 countries in Central and Eastern Europe. The concepts best expressing the character of the CNF’s work are adapting to local needs, building relationships, and creating lasting partnerships based on trust. The network helped people to let breathe fresh air, excitement and enthusiasm into stale, hardened and dinosaur-like social care systems, encouraging them to envision different ways in which society can care for and include all of its members. During these 20 years more than 3,300 grants were awarded, amounting to 72 million euros.
In some countries, support to NGOs will be offered also after 2012: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kaliningrad and Moldova. In Moldova support will be continued by Janivo Foundation. In Bosnia and Herzegovina the IN Foundation offers project support to youth initiatives. The WP Schmitz Stiftung will continue support to small scale initiatives in Kaliningrad through ProfKo. Contact details of these organisation can be found under contacts.
